Last night, while watching White Collar, I was reminded of a game that I had not thought of in a while. Inspiration hit. I had to find a blog worthy fact to post about this game.
So here you go...

The word checkmate in chess comes from the Persian phrase Shah-Mat, which means "the king is helpless."

My first official facts post. This is something that is rather special to me. Not because of the actual fact, but because of the love I have for the place mentioned in this fun fact.

It is believed by many Biographers that Marco Polo was born on the island on Korčula, in today's Croatia.
